CABURGUA AND HUIFE HOT SPRINGS

Visiting the Ojos del Caburgua with its impressive blue lagoon and the Caburgua Lake of volcanic origin. Both of these places are surrounded by native forest and are linked by the underground river that flows out of this impressive lake which you can observe the mountain peaks of two different National Parks and to the south the landmark of the area. Afterwards to the hot springs for complete relaxation. 
Huife hot springs is located 33 km north-east of Pucón set on the banks of the Liucura River. 
There are three outdoor swimming pools and 1 pool covered with a canopy, all of them with natural thermal waters. Their mineral rich waters are between 34° and 39° C. Services available include different types of massages and baths, a canopy circuit, horseback riding, trekking and climbing. Huife is open all year, although occasionally snows in winter.

Menetue is half an hour from Pucón with only 5 kilometers of gravel road. It’s located in the middle of the Andes. This hot spring consists in two outdoor pools and two indoor pools as well as private tubs. As all thermal waters, these are also rich in salts and minerals to help you relax and energize yourself with the natural beauty of this 40 acres of native forest along with the Ancapulli Lagoon. The starting point of this tour is the principal beach “Playa Grande” of volcanic sand, La Poza which is the lake marine, Peninsula condominium which is an actual tongue of lava which was formed many years ago from eruptions and today you can play 9 holes of golf on this beautiful private establishment then a visit to see the beautiful flowers made of wood which is hard to believe by just looking at them that they are not real, on to main street and finally the hanging bridge “Quelhue” from where you can observe the Trancura River and also the Villarrica, Quetrupillan and Lanín Volcanoes on a sunny day.

40 kms east of Pucón on the International road, rural-mountaineer and border community of Curarrehue (80% of the population is Mapuche) which is the proud owner of the Cultural Center “Aldea Intercultural Trawe – Peyun” which means “where we meet” in the Mapuche language Mapudungun. This cultural center has an outstanding collection of photographs taken between 1860´s and 1930´s, as well as a variety of objects under the care of local artisans.
On the way back from this interesting town you will stop at the Kilaleufu farm (Kilaleufu means 3 rivers in Mapudungun the language of the Mapuches) where a Mapuche family lives and invites you to share their work, life, traditions in their “ruca” the typical Mapuche house while tasting

HORSERIDING IN HUIFQUENCO RANCH

An entertaining and educational carriage or horseback riding visit to our country-side traditions, in one of the most beautiful ranches of the Lake District. You will be able to experience in a visit around the pastures and the prairies, the agricultural and cattle breeding, labors of a typical farm in the south of Chile.
Along the way we will see guinea hens, young bulls, horses and their stables, in the “media Luna” rodeo ring that you will be able to observe horse domination and horse taming. Continuing with the ride you will pass by the wild boar’s forest, then along the beautiful lagoon where fishing lessons are given and finally visiting the Voipir River known for it beauty and the Kayaking.

This is an entertaining and educational carriage or horseback ride on one of the most beautiful ranches of the Lakes District. You will be able to experience a marvelous visit around the pastures and the prairies, take part in the agricultural tasks, take a look at the cattle breeding, and other farm tasks on a typical farm in the south of Chile.
After a wonderful horse or carriage ride, you will enjoy a delicious Chilean lunch “Asado al Palo”, a southern styled Chilean barbecue, starting with an appetizer, a special sauce that is called “pebre” accompanied by homemade bread then the main course, 2 types of salads and to finish your lunch with the dessert of your choice, coffee, homemade cookies and to top it off with an after dinner drink.

CANOPY AVENTURA IN PUCON
Season : all year around

The setting for this intense adventure is on an island surrounded by the Trancura River and one of its channels, where you will fly among centenary oaks, coihues, ulmos, cinnamon trees. The whole circuit takes about one and a half hours without ever touching ground from the beginning till the end of the adventure. The challenge is facing 10 cable lines with lengths varying from 40 to 140 mts, and heights up to 25 mts, designed to reach a speed ranging between 30 and 45 km/hr.
We provide all the participants with canopy equipment (harness, carabineers, tubular tapes, tandem speed, gloves and glove protections, safety helmet), transportation and certified canopy guides.
It’s a good idea to wear running shoes or trekking shoes and comfortable clothes. It is very important to keep in mind not to wear a ring, a thick neckless, earings or watch, etc… (in any case the guides will remind you to take them off). Ladies remember to tie up your hair if it’s long.


SNOWSHOES TRIP
Season : winter, depending on weather conditions

This trekking excursion is held on the slopes of the Villarrica Volcano, in the Villarrica National Park, 18 Kms south of Pucón. The highest point of this trekking is between 1000 and 1300 meters. You will walk through Southern Beech Forest and Lava Fields covered with snow. Many different types of birds may be observed throughout the hike.
Hiking up to the highest part of this excursion where we will have a spectacular view of the Villarrica Lake and some of the majestic volcanoes of the Araucaria Region.

TREKKING HUERQUEHUE NATIONAL PARK
Season : spring, autumn, and summer
Minimum : 2 tourists

Requirement : medium level of difficulty, suitable for people in good shape
Huerquehue is located 35 km from Pucón, (Caburga – Paillaco) it has a surface of 12.500 ha. Its climate is temper-warm, with less than 4 months of dry season and an ice climate caused by the altitude.
The park has areas of camping, picnic and information center. This beautiful mountainous park where hills and gullies confine lakes and streams of pure waters, one example is the Tinquilco Lake. Monkey Puzzle Trees, Southern Beech and Oak trees are the most common vegetation. The fauna includes condors, red foxes, buffalo frogs, Darwin’s frog and the curious chucao. The most beautiful scenery is seen at the Laguna Verde and Toro, the Renahue river ravine, and the Quinchol and Araucano peaks. From the park is it possible to observe wonderful landscapes.

GEOMETRICAS HOT SPRINGS

The Geometrical Hot Springs are located 90 Kms. Southwest of Pucón. It takes around one and half hour to get there by car, on road 80% paved. Near the hot springs, 16 Kms away, there is the small village of Coñaripe, a town which almost was erased by the last eruption of Villarrica Volcano in 1971.
These hot springs were created quite recently; nevertheless they have taken over magazines and newspapers pages due to their architecture and original design. There are 17 thermal pools with temperatures ranging between 39º and 80º C. The hot springs also have a small cafeteria from where you can admire the spectacular landscape around you. FOOT – PATH, LAKES AND SALTO OF HUILO-HUILO

This waterfall is located about 1 km. from Neltume a small community and 11 km. from Choshuenco in the X región. The entrance is short road that cross the little bridge over The Fui River. It runs quickly among rocks in a space of 10 meters wide and finally falls spectacularly. This fall was formed after a volcanic eruption. There are abundant species of oaks in the area. We invite you to learn about the Chilean culture, its traditions and natural resources on your visit to the city of Temuco. Here, you can learn more about the Mapuche people and their culture. In the “Museo Regional” (Regional Museum) of Temuco, founded in 1940, you can observe demonstrations of various collections, as far back as the European colonization, the Spanish conquest, pacification of the Araucanía, maps and plans of the Temuco foundation. Also found in the museum are Mapuche artifacts such as utensils, weapons, clothing and decorations. Some of the most interesting are those made of silver, wool, vegetable fibers, bone, wood and ceramics which whom the women are the main demonstrators of the culture. Commercialization of the agricultural products of the Region is done in the market. The market inaugurated in 1929, is the traditional sale place of Mapuche handcrafts. Ending the tour with a visit to the Neruda Museum and continuing on to the Locomotive Museum and the Ñielol Hill.

MAPUCHE COMMUNITIES

You will visit the nearest Mapuche communities from Temuco, like Chol Chol, Padre Las Casas where the communities are devoted to their traditional crafts and agriculture. There are still Mapuches that conserve their characteristics and customs.
The Mapuche´s that call themselves “people of the land”, born in a conflict between the ocean and the mountain range, the two central elements that model their territory and their culture. Their prayers or religious parties, in which thank the earth, (Neguenechen their most important god) for their existence, their crops, their families and weather. The vital relationship of the Mapuches with the land is not only their material subsistence; it is also where they find their spiritual expression.


NATIONAL PARK CONGUILLIO
Season : all year around, depending on weather conditions

Requirements : Suitable for tourists in good shape, trekking 2 hours
120 kms East of Temuco (via Lautaro – Curacautín) the Park covers 60.833 hectares, with the magnificent Llaima Volcano (3.125 meters above sea level) in the middle of it, becoming the main feature of the area. The landscape has been sculpted by the volcano’s lava fields, Araucaria forests and the Conguillio Lake, which pristine waters that freeze in hard winters.
Divided into Los Paraguas sector and Conguillio sector, the park is ideal for walking, bird watching, and fishing, or simply to enjoy the landscape and lakes.
The fauna includes monito del monte (a small marsupial), vizcacha, black woodpecker, red woodpecker, condor, red tailed hawk and some species of aquatic birds.


PUERTO SAAVEDRA – LAGO BUDI

Located 85 km from Temuco, the coast of the Araucania, rural and beautiful, is one of the corners of the region that keeps big secrets. Cities of Nueva Imperial and Carahue, known as the city of the three floors, built in unevenness with a great outdoor steam engine museum, like relics they adorn the beautiful avenue that takes us to a hanging bridge on the Imperial river. Puerto Saavedra is a small coastal town that in the past served as place to give service to the ships that entered to the Imperial River, today it is the most important beach resort in the region.
The beautiful Budi lake is at the south of the city, with many streams (arms) where wind goes among soft hills, some of the few salted lakes of South América, it is also the refuge of some 130 species of birds, included the black neck swan. In this whole area we have one of the biggest concentrations of Mapuches.
